Overview
Walter Furlong Grain Ltd is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Accounts Administrator to deliver accurate, timely, and audit-ready financial information across multiple entities, including associated farming accounts and Final Furlong Bloodstock.
This role takes ownership of the full accounts function, ensuring strong financial controls, compliance, and efficient processes across finance, fleet, assets, and administration. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and capable of managing a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities Accounts Management
- Manage creditor and debtor ledgers across all companies
- Process supplier and customer invoices accurately
- Issue monthly statements and reconcile creditor accounts
- Allocate payments and manage credit control
- Perform bank and control account reconciliations
- Handle financial queries from customers, suppliers, and internal teams
- Maintain accurate financial records and intercompany balances
Month-End & Audit Readiness
- Lead monthly close processes across all entities
- Complete and maintain the Month-End Financial Checklist
- Ensure all records are audit-ready
- Identify and report discrepancies promptly
- Provide cost analysis and departmental reporting
Compliance Reporting
- Prepare and submit VAT, Intrastat, and VIES returns
- Maintain supporting documentation for all submissions
Asset & Loan Management
- Maintain fixed asset registers within Herbst
- Track HP/lease agreements, repayments, and interest postings
- Ensure accurate asset classification and reporting
Farm Accounts & Stock
- Manage payments and reconciliations for farming agreements
- Maintain records for land leases and conacre arrangements
- Assist with stock tracking and farm costings
Fleet Management
- Maintain fleet register across all companies
- Track fuel, maintenance, repairs, tax, DOE/NCT, and insurance
- Ensure vehicles are compliant, serviced, and insured
- Liaise with mechanics, suppliers, and insurers
Insurance Administration
- Manage all insurance policies, renewals, and claims
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation
- Report risks and changes to management
Systems & Process Improvement
- Maintain strong internal controls
- Improve workflows and efficiency
- Ensure accurate data entry in Herbst and Sage
- Provide financial insights and variance analysis
Team Support & Administration
- Provide payroll cover, including TMS oversight and reporting
- Support payroll processing and validation
- Provide cross-departmental accounts cover
- Assist with general office administration and reception when required
- Support Financial Controller and Directors with ad hoc tasks
Requirements
- Proven experience in an accounts or finance administration role
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and financial processes
- Experience with accounting systems (Sage and/or Herbst preferred)
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience in agriculture or multi-entity businesses is an advantage

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: Up to €40,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 24 – 32 per week
